Cobra Stinger Driver was released as part of the third series (1984), and came packaged exclusively with the Cobra Night Attack 4-WD Stinger. They were together through 1985 and discontinued in 1986.

In 1989, Cobra Stinger Driver was available mail-order from Hasbro Direct as part of a six figure vehicle drivers set that included Copperhead, HISS Driver, Crankcase, Frostbite, and Thunder.
